Geriatric massage is a form of massage therapy designed to meet the specific needs of the elderly population. It aims to promote health by preventing and treating diseases and disabilities in older adults.” Consequently, geriatric massage therapists are educated to understand the physiological and psychological changes that occur in senior citizens. It involves the gentle use of hands to manipulate the soft tissues of the body to improve blood and lymph circulation, which in turn helps to relieve pain and discomfort.
